Doug Hawkes

 

Doug Hawkes is the Managing Director, Principal Structural Engineer and Owner of Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd. 

Doug has over 25 years of experience in the field of mining structures, with significant experience in the design and design auditing of bulk materials handling machinery and mining and heavy industrial infrastructure. This experience extends to a detailed knowledge of Australian and International structural design, machine design, materials and fabrication standards. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, with honours, from the University of Queensland, is the first Australian awarded an International Institute of Welding (IIW) International Welded Structures Designer Diploma, is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, and also holds a Bachelor of Laws, with honours, from the Queensland University of Technology. 

His career has included a wide variety of roles including as a structural design engineer, as site supervisor including contract management tasks for marine piling and wharf infrastructure, offshore workshop QA/QC assessments, conducting detail design auditing for both Australian and overseas suppliers, serious incident investigations and the provision of expert witness services for structural failures. 

Doug was the revision drafting leader and member of the Standards Australia Committee ME-043 on the bulk materials handling equipment structural design standard AS 4324.1-2017.

Peter de San Miguel

Peter de San Miguel is Principal Structural Engineer of Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd. 

Peter has been a Principal Structural Engineer of some of the largest engineering consulting firms in Australia. Peter has been at Principal Engineer level for over 30 years, and has over 50 years’ experience in the mining, heavy industrial and oil and gas industries. Peter was often sourced by maintenance, management and executive level personnel of mining and ports companies for his expert skills of risk identification, assessment and mitigation with structural assets, including crisis recovery. His exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are remembered by executives, managers, and personnel at the coalface’ carrying out works. A funding and now retired partner of SIE, Peter has passed on his passion for technical excellence to young Engineers.

Dr. Matthew Humphreys

Matthew Humphreys is Principal Structural Engineer, Advanced Analysis for Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd.

Matthew has over 30 years of experience in a variety of structural engineering fields including mining, materials handling, heavy industrial, institutional, infrastructure and building, on projects of international and domestic natures. In addition, he has significant experience in the research and development of engineering structures including materials and structure testing as well as detailed linear, non-linear and dynamic finite element analysis.

Matthew has undertaken numerous stacker, reclaimer and shiploader audit engineering tasks to AS4324.1 requirements. His key skills lie in the application, review, assessment and judgement of the validity and accuracy of detailed finite element models and analyses.

Matthew has key communication skills to allow concise description of complex analyses and design outcomes to all levels of the project team.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, with honours, from the University of Southern Queensland and a PhD in Structural Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology. Matthew is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland and a Certified Practicing Engineer of Engineers Australia.

Simon Edgar

Simon Edgar is a Senior Structural Engineer for Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd.

Simon has over 13 years of experience in structural engineering, primarily in mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures including fixed plant and bulk handling machinery. In this time, Simon has undertaken a wide range of structural engineering works including detail structural design, numerous condition and QA/QC inspections and design and site supervision of remedial works. This has included provision of onsite technical assistance during construction, design review of modifications and upgrades to both existing and new structures plus various studies on life extension, capacity and upgrade of existing fixed plant structures and bulk handling machines.

His skills lie in the proficient analysis, design and inspection of mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Construction Engineering), with honours, from Curtin University of Technology.

Laura Conroy

Laura Conroy is a Structural Engineer for Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd.

Laura has over 5 years of experience in structural engineering, primarily in mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures including fixed plant and bulk handling machinery. In this time, Laura has undertaken a range of structural engineering works including detail structural design, condition inspections, design and site supervision of remedial works, onsite technical assistance, design review of modifications and upgrades to existing structures, and studies on life extension of existing fixed plant structures and bulk handling machines. 

Her skills lie in the proficient analysis, design and inspection of mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures.

Laura holds a Master of Professional Engineering (Civil Engineering), with distinction, from the University of Western Australia.

Nicole Morris

Nicole Morris is a Structural Engineer for Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd.

Nicole has over 2 years of experience in structural engineering, primarily in mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures including fixed plant and bulk handling machinery. In this time, Nicole has undertaken a range of structural engineering works including detail structural design, finite element analysis, and design of remedial works. 

Her skills lie in the proficient analysis and design, and building and analysis of Finite Analysis models, for of mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering), with honours, from the Queensland University of Technology.

Aaron Maloney

Aaron Maloney is a Structural Designer for Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd.

Aaron has over 2 years of experience in drafting and 3D modelling for structural engineering projects, primarily in mining, materials handling and heavy industrial structures including fixed plant and bulk handling machinery. In this time, Aaron has undertaken a range of structural drafting and structural design works, including detail structural design drafting and construction of 3D models for Finite Element Analysis, remedial works, and new construction design.

His skills lie in the proficient application of AutoCAD, Revit, Advance Steel, MicroStation, Rhinoceros and Strand7. 

Aaron holds a Diploma of Civil & Structural Engineering from North Metropolitan TAFE in Western Australia.
