Supervising Structural Engineer

Simon Edgar is a Supervising Structural Engineer at Structural Integrity Engineering Pty Ltd, based in Newcastle. Since joining the company in 2009, Simon has built extensive expertise in structural engineering across mining, materials handling, and heavy industrial sectors, with a focus on fixed plant infrastructure and bulk handling machinery.

His experience includes detailed structural design of new and existing structures, remedial works, and upgrades. Simon has conducted numerous condition assessments and QA/QC inspections, and provided onsite technical support during construction and complex maintenance shutdowns. He has also contributed to emergency recovery efforts and incident investigations following structural failures.

Simon is proficient in structural analysis and design using tools such as SpaceGass, Strand7, AutoCAD, and TEDDS. His project portfolio includes life extension studies, defect assessments of major bulk handling machines, and development of design criteria for machine trackwork systems. He is actively involved in business development, project financial management, and mentoring junior engineers.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Construction Engineering), with Honours, from Curtin University of Technology. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (Structural), a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ No. 20009), and listed on the National Engineering Register (NER).
